Sometime 和Sometimes 的不同
英文的 Sometime 和 Sometimes 都是副词, 意思似乎也相差不远, 不知用法有何不同?
Sometime 有两个意思:
(1) At one time or another (在任何时候), 例如:
Come over and see me sometime. (随便任何时候, 请过来坐.)
I will see you again sometime. (我下次再来看你.)
I’ll come and see you sometime next week. (下个礼拜我会来看你.)
(2) At some indefinite time (在不固定的某个时候), 例如:
It happened sometime last month. (此事发生在上个月某一个时候.)
Tea is served sometime between four and six in the afternoon. (下午四至六时有茶供应.)
Sometimes 意为有时、间或 (at times; now and then; from time to time), 例如:
Sometimes a ship takes fire. (有时船上起火.)
I sometimes think that it is a great mistake. (我有时想这是一个大错.)
Sometimes she is happy, and sometimes she is sad. (她有时快乐, 有时忧愁.)
I visit the art museum sometimes. (我有时去参观美术馆.)
又 sometime 一字还可作形容词用, 意为以前的、昔时的, 例如:
Miss Wang, a sometime pupil of our school, is now a teacher here. (王小姐以前是本校的学生, 如今是这里的教员了.)
此外, some time 分开来写成二字, 意为短时, 例如:
He left Singapore for Taipei some time ago. (他不久以前离开新加坡去台北了.)
